PAVAKKA PACHADI - BITTER GOURD RAITA
Bitter Gourd is healthy and is good for Diabetic patients, it contains lots of iron and it helps digestion.
This bitter pachadi can be served on Sadyas along with sweet Beetroot pachadi, and salty cucumber pachadi .
Its my fav. pachadi, tastes absolutely delicious, my whole family likes it except my children :) .
It goes very well with rice.
Things needed :
Bitter gourd or Pavakka - 2 big , slice into roundsGreen chillies - 3- 4 , cut lengthwise
Marinate the Pavakka & green chillies with,
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Deep fry the marinated pavakka & green chillies in oil until crispy.
Make a paste of ,
Grated coconut - 1/2 of a coconut
Jeera or cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
Greenchilly - 1
Garlic - 1 small pod
Preparation method for the pachadi:
Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds , fry curry leaves.Add the coconut paste and 1/2 cup water.
Boil only once.
Toss in the fried Pavakka & greenchillies.
Remove the pan from the heat. Allow to cool for a while.
When cooled, mix in curd , check for salt.
My favourite pavakka pachadi is ready.
